FINAL VIDEO

Craft- In order to make this video I used adobe premiere. I used the special effects in the program to make the photo I created in photoshop into a moving thirty second poster. This video poster is a combination of all the previous small projects listed in the blogs below.
Concept- The concept of this movie is to draw peoples attention to an event going on, which is James and Judys thirty year anniversary.
Composition-  I chose the pieces of information that I felt was the most important to be on the screen longest. I also used special effects to draw the viewers eye to the important parts of the video poster. The falling heart is used to continue to keep the viewers eye on the text that appears and has the viewer look at the information in the order I want them to look at it. The color scheme I used was chose specifically because I feel as if the tan colors and light browns are sophisticated and classy. Since this is a classy event I felt the colors along with the cursive font went well together.

Week 14- video

Craft- In order to create this video I used my digital camera and set it to video mode. I filmed this in my bathroom because it has the most natural light, and I was able to get a background that was the color I wanted. I had to get below the glass and video tape on an upward slant to be able to record the champagne pouring into the glass. I used one hand to video tape and the other to pour the champagne.
Concept- The concept of this video is to catch a motion shot of champagne pouring into a glass to symbolize celebration.
Composition- I chose an upward angle to make the glass appear taller and I chose a light brown background because to me, the color is classic and elegant just like the event it is advertising.

week 13- video clips

Craft- In order to create this video I used my cellphones video option. I held up a water bottle against a solid color wall and continued to keep tipping it to create the pouring motion. I then used the blue tooth device to import the video onto the computer.
Concept- The concept was to video tape a pouring motion for my soon to be video poster.
Composition- I used a bottle that was see through so that the viewers could view the water moving inside the bottle. I also video taped it in front of a solid background so that the viewers eye would not get distracted by any other object. I repeated the pouring motion so that, if the viewer did not understand what was going on at first, they were able to keep watching it to understand that I was portraying a pouring motion.

12- poster

CRAFT- I started making this poster by using a drawing in the previous post. I took this drawing and recreated it on photoshop using multiple layers a different fonts.
CONCEPT- The concept of the picture was to make people aware of an anniversary party via a poster.
COMPOSITION- I chose the brown and tannish colors because I didnt want colors that were super vibrant because those colors remind me more of a wild party and this party is more of a brunch. I made the event the largers so that it drew in attention and I made the photo half of the poster also to draw the viewers eye to it. I chose the fonts specifically because the event that I am inviting people to is a classy event. The font reminds me of sophistication and more of a formal event.

11- sketches

ADD PICTURES
craft- In order to create these drawings I used a blank sheet of horizantal paper and a pencil. I drew them by hand.
concept- The concept was to create a poster inviting people to an event in a way that would grab the viewers eye and have the poster stand out from others.
Composition- I used bigger and darker pencil parks on the more important words to grab the viewers attention, and I also tried to center the drawings so that the viewers eye would be drawn to it.

LAYERS

ALL THE PHOTOS ARE LOADED BUT WHEN PREVIEWED THEY DONT SHOW

CRAFT- In order to create these layer photos I used photoshop. I selected a new layer and a new paint brush 20 times. I one color for the majority and used different shades of that color. I then moved the layers around untill I found a pattern that I liked.
Concept- The title I gave my series of layer are Send Me Red Ducks. The reason I chose this title is because the main color is red. I tried to put an emphasis on the ducks in my photos as well. Another part of each of the photos is the POSTCARD stamp which gives the impression of someone sending something.
Compositison- I chose to create the duck layer the deepest red in order to make them stand out the most and I chose the dark blue for the POSTCARD and 5 cent stamp because they were a part of the photo that was different then the ducks and I wantd it to pop out at the viewer.

WEEK 9 GRADIENT

Craft- The craft that went into creating the entire folder is noted in the blog below.  In order to create the gradient necessary to portray my picture appropriately I opened my photo in Photoshop. I then selected the layer I wanted to appear with gradient and selected the colors I wanted and used the gradient tool to make my photo look more realistic.
Composition- I chose an to make my Iphone four to appear as large as the ordinary radio because I wanted to emphasize the Iphone. I chose the colors that I did, because I wanted the photo to be realistic so I stuck with the original colors of the items.
Concept- Since the topic was "escape from ordinary radio" I decided to use an ordinary radio and an Iphone 4 to portray this. The radio on the left is my "ordinary radio" and the Iphone on the right portrays the "escape". I chose to have the older radio listening to the newest of radio because when I think of escaping, I think of putting on my headphones and escaping reality. I chose the ordinary radio to put on headphones and escape from itself, which is ordinary and listen to a better and more exciting station which is 88.3 WXAV.

Special Edition Blog- Modern Wing

After exploring the classical wing of the Art Museum Professor Peck (photo above) and my classmates and I (photo above) moved into the Modern wing which we then discussed a different and more interesting (in my opinion) style of art. I enjoyed this part of the museum much more than the classical wing. Below are my three favorite for the catergory of craft, concept and composition.
Craft- This tree was created from a large piece of wood. What I found very interesting about this peice of art is that every crevice and detail was carved by hand. This must have been very difficult but the end result imitates a tree almost exactly. The irony of the craft is that this is a peice of art that portrays a tree, which is made out of a tree (wood).

Concept- When I first came to this part of the museum with plain white sheets of art I thought to myself that it is completley silly and not art. After thinking about it and discussing it, the concept of the peice is my favorite. It reminds me of where I am in life right now, which is almost the feeling of "whats next". Its an empty canvas which portrays the fact that anything can go here. Almost like its all been done and the peice wants some one to create something amazing. Although it is just a plain white peice, it really made me think, which is exaclty what I think the artist wanted the viewers to do.

COMPOSITION- This photo was my favorite from every picture in the museum. I feel that the artist used specific colors and shapes to give this photo multipe meanings. The colors and textures used make the photo very lively and happy feeling. When I first look at the photo I am drawn to the bottem and I make my way up, since the bottem of the photo has the most going on. I think that the artist wanted to portray an ocean floor with the sun shining down through the water from the sky. And i think that he wanted the little specs in the middle to look like fish which guide your eyes up to the top of the photo toward what appears to be a sun.

Special Edition Blog- Classical

On February 17, 2011 I, (photo above)  traveled to the beautiful city of Chicago to go on a tour with the very intelligent Professor Peck (photo above). The first museum we visited was the classical part of the museum. Professor Peck gave us a tour and showed us some very interesting view points on many peices of art. Below are my three favorite for the catergories of Craft, Concept, and Composition.

COMPOSITION: For the classical section of the Art Museum I chose this photo as my favorite photo for composition purpouses. The reason I chose this picture for the composition factor is because the way the artist painted this photo makes the eye go straight to the blue shower curtain that is randomly placed in the photo. One would think that this photo should be about the beautifully painted flowers in the background but one can't help but have their eyes go straight to the blue shower curtain and I believe that the artist did this as the main purpose of the photo.

Concept- I chose to select this photo from the classical museum because for some reason when I looked at it I immediatley felt sorry for the woman in the photo. To me, the photo portrays misery and hard work. The way the artist chose to make it look as though the sun is only rising and the woman is already covered in dirt as if she has been working for hours already. The artist portrays the field as being so large and with her standing in he middle of it with only one small tool portrays the hard work that the woman has been doing. The face on the woman is also captivating. She has a look that doesnt look as though shes in dispair but almost like she is looking at the work that she has done/ needs to be done.

CRAFT- I chose this painting from the classical museum for craft because the way the photo is painted is very captivating. It is an oil based painting using different shades of the color green, but all of the strokes are going in the same direction to form the trees, grass and bushes. The different strokes that all go in the same direction give charecter to the trees which is a very interesting way to paint.

Week 8

hour one

hour 2

hour 3 ( I dont know why it is smaller but it isnt like that on photoshop)
Craft-In order to create this picture, I took the photo in my previous post that I drew and portrayed it on photoshop. I created this entire photo by using the photoshop shape tools and color alone. The only part that was not used by shapes is the text.
Composition-I chose to do an Iphone because almost everyone has seen or has an iphone since it is the most popular electronic device out right now. I chose the back of the iphone to gradually turn whiter towards the top since that is where the words are and I wanted the words WXAV to stand out the most.

Week 7 - sketches

CRAFT- In order to create these sketches I used a plain sheet of white computer paper and made it into a square. I then used pencil to draw "escape from ordinary radio". I made sure to use dark clean strokes when drawing for definition.
Concept- The concept of my drawings is to portray "escape from ordinary radio". Each photo shows a way of escaping a normal boring radio and going toward a more exciting radio, which in this case is WXAV 88.3.
Composition- I tried to choose to draw something out of the ordinary for each in order to really grasp the viewers attention. I emphasized on each drawing the escape of the ordinary radio by clearly portraying that each photo was escaping somehow, either by listening to another radio, or going on a vacation.

Week 6- Photos (music/radio)

Craft- In order to create this picture I took my guitar and set it on a solid black sheet for contrast. I wanted to get the entire guitar in the frame so I stood above it. The lighting was difficult for this photo because if I turned the flash on it reflected off the guitar and if I turned the flash off, it wasnt bright enough. I placed the guitar under a light and turned the flash off in order to get the brightness I wanted.
Concept- This is a picture of my guitar on a solid black sheet.
Composition- I chose a black sheet for the background of the guitar because I wanted the guitar shape to stand out. I liked the way the black made the wood of the guitar look and I also like how the black really emphasises the curves that make up the guitar.

WEEK #5

Craft- In order to complete this mini series I first started with a single Crush pop can.  I started by taking a picture of the crush can against a very contrast background. I then entered it into photo shop and eliminated all surronding pixels which isolated the can leaving it as the only image on the screen. I then opened a new blank tab in which I copy and pasted the lone can that I isolated. I did this multiple times untill the entire screen was covered. When I was happy with the way the cans were arranged I picked two themes that I wanted for each picture. The first was to turn one of the cans in each of the picture purple by changing its hue. After doing so to all three I chose to flip another can in each of the photos by using photoshop. After I was happy with all three photos I completed my series by screen capturing the photos together.
Concept- The concept of my series is just a simple pop can which I turned into a bigger picture. This was just me playing around and learning the useful tools and all the possibilites photoshop offers.
Composition- I chose to make all the pop cans lining up in a slanted pattern on the entire tab untill I flipped one and changed the color in one. I decided to make on can purple since it is an opposite hue of orange and stands out real well. Then to make the viewers eye look at something else in the photo I made sure to flip one other random can in my photo. The reason I did both these things was to grab the viewers attention to two specific parts of the picture.

WEEK 4-COLOR

Concept-The theme of my photos was me and my friends acting weird and holding water bottles up to their faces.
Composition- The colors I chose to show off my photo are contrasting hues. I chose the yellow to point out the part that was strange and the pink to fill the rest of the background to make the yellow stand out much more.
Craft-First thing I did to complete these photos was to find two water bottles and one of my friends and have them hold the water bottles up to their eyes. After I saved the pictures to my flash drive and opened my pictures through photoshop.  The first thing I had to due once photoshop was open is to change the first layers name and set it to the multiply setting. Then I had to desaturate my photo so that all the color was removed. I then added another layer through photoshop and chose my background hue. I added one more layer and brought that between the two layers on the side screen in photoshop. I added the opposite hue from the background color and made it my paint brush color. After all of my layers were set up I started with my paint brush for the parts of the photos that I wanted to pop out. I then went and changed the hues and saturation through photoshop until I was pleased with my photos. I then saved them to my flash drive.

WEEK #3

Craft- In order to take this picture I first had to find a can of Crush Orange pop which I had at my house. Since the project was to take a picture in front of a solid background I took this in my bathroom. It is currently being remodeled so the walls and the tile are all white. I layed the pop can on the ground flat right up against the wall. I had no flash on because the light from the bathroom was enough. I then tilted the camera and zoomed on the pop can so less of the tile would show.
Composition- I arranged the photo this way because it is something so simple but it really seems to make the pop can colors stand out. I chose white as the background because the can is very bright, but the words are white and i thought they would pop out. I like how the tile in the corner is tilted with the can because of how I took the picture and it looks as though the can is on a slant. The verticle line from the tile also grabs my attention straight to the can.
Concept- The concept of this art is to simply express an object against a solid contrasting background in order to make the object stand out completley to catch the viewers eye.

WEEK #2

Craft-I created this image first by explaining to Jorie (who the photo is taken of) that I needed ten pictures of ten different people doing the same werid thing. Jorie took two water bottles and held them to her eyes and that is the pose that I countinued to use. I tried to get her in front of a solid white door so there would be less of a distraction. I used my camerea and turned on the flash. I took her picture without doing anything else special to it.
Composition- The concept of this picture is to bring the viewers eyes straight to the water bottle. I did not do anything particular in this picture to have the eyes directed there but they tend to be drawn there anyway since it is the part of the picture that stands out the most.
Concept- This is a picture of a girl holding two water bottles up to her face. This may resemble her eyes being bigger and being able to look at things in a different way. This project did not have much meaning behind it so the only concept I am trying to get across is someone doing something out of the ordinary.

I CANT GET MY SCREEN CAPTURE TO LOAD OFF MY HARD DRIVE SO MONDAY IN CLASS I WILL TRY!
