After exploring the classical wing of the Art Museum Professor Peck (photo above) and my classmates and I (photo above) moved into the Modern wing which we then discussed a different and more interesting (in my opinion) style of art. I enjoyed this part of the museum much more than the classical wing. Below are my three favorite for the catergory of craft, concept and composition.
Craft- This tree was created from a large piece of wood. What I found very interesting about this peice of art is that every crevice and detail was carved by hand. This must have been very difficult but the end result imitates a tree almost exactly. The irony of the craft is that this is a peice of art that portrays a tree, which is made out of a tree (wood).
Concept- When I first came to this part of the museum with plain white sheets of art I thought to myself that it is completley silly and not art. After thinking about it and discussing it, the concept of the peice is my favorite. It reminds me of where I am in life right now, which is almost the feeling of "whats next". Its an empty canvas which portrays the fact that anything can go here. Almost like its all been done and the peice wants some one to create something amazing. Although it is just a plain white peice, it really made me think, which is exaclty what I think the artist wanted the viewers to do.

COMPOSITION- This photo was my favorite from every picture in the museum. I feel that the artist used specific colors and shapes to give this photo multipe meanings. The colors and textures used make the photo very lively and happy feeling. When I first look at the photo I am drawn to the bottem and I make my way up, since the bottem of the photo has the most going on. I think that the artist wanted to portray an ocean floor with the sun shining down through the water from the sky. And i think that he wanted the little specs in the middle to look like fish which guide your eyes up to the top of the photo toward what appears to be a sun.
