LAYERS

ALL THE PHOTOS ARE LOADED BUT WHEN PREVIEWED THEY DONT SHOW

CRAFT- In order to create these layer photos I used photoshop. I selected a new layer and a new paint brush 20 times. I one color for the majority and used different shades of that color. I then moved the layers around untill I found a pattern that I liked.
Concept- The title I gave my series of layer are Send Me Red Ducks. The reason I chose this title is because the main color is red. I tried to put an emphasis on the ducks in my photos as well. Another part of each of the photos is the POSTCARD stamp which gives the impression of someone sending something.
Compositison- I chose to create the duck layer the deepest red in order to make them stand out the most and I chose the dark blue for the POSTCARD and 5 cent stamp because they were a part of the photo that was different then the ducks and I wantd it to pop out at the viewer.

WEEK 9 GRADIENT

Craft- The craft that went into creating the entire folder is noted in the blog below.  In order to create the gradient necessary to portray my picture appropriately I opened my photo in Photoshop. I then selected the layer I wanted to appear with gradient and selected the colors I wanted and used the gradient tool to make my photo look more realistic.
Composition- I chose an to make my Iphone four to appear as large as the ordinary radio because I wanted to emphasize the Iphone. I chose the colors that I did, because I wanted the photo to be realistic so I stuck with the original colors of the items.
Concept- Since the topic was "escape from ordinary radio" I decided to use an ordinary radio and an Iphone 4 to portray this. The radio on the left is my "ordinary radio" and the Iphone on the right portrays the "escape". I chose to have the older radio listening to the newest of radio because when I think of escaping, I think of putting on my headphones and escaping reality. I chose the ordinary radio to put on headphones and escape from itself, which is ordinary and listen to a better and more exciting station which is 88.3 WXAV.

Special Edition Blog- Modern Wing

After exploring the classical wing of the Art Museum Professor Peck (photo above) and my classmates and I (photo above) moved into the Modern wing which we then discussed a different and more interesting (in my opinion) style of art. I enjoyed this part of the museum much more than the classical wing. Below are my three favorite for the catergory of craft, concept and composition.
Craft- This tree was created from a large piece of wood. What I found very interesting about this peice of art is that every crevice and detail was carved by hand. This must have been very difficult but the end result imitates a tree almost exactly. The irony of the craft is that this is a peice of art that portrays a tree, which is made out of a tree (wood).

Concept- When I first came to this part of the museum with plain white sheets of art I thought to myself that it is completley silly and not art. After thinking about it and discussing it, the concept of the peice is my favorite. It reminds me of where I am in life right now, which is almost the feeling of "whats next". Its an empty canvas which portrays the fact that anything can go here. Almost like its all been done and the peice wants some one to create something amazing. Although it is just a plain white peice, it really made me think, which is exaclty what I think the artist wanted the viewers to do.

COMPOSITION- This photo was my favorite from every picture in the museum. I feel that the artist used specific colors and shapes to give this photo multipe meanings. The colors and textures used make the photo very lively and happy feeling. When I first look at the photo I am drawn to the bottem and I make my way up, since the bottem of the photo has the most going on. I think that the artist wanted to portray an ocean floor with the sun shining down through the water from the sky. And i think that he wanted the little specs in the middle to look like fish which guide your eyes up to the top of the photo toward what appears to be a sun.

Special Edition Blog- Classical

On February 17, 2011 I, (photo above)  traveled to the beautiful city of Chicago to go on a tour with the very intelligent Professor Peck (photo above). The first museum we visited was the classical part of the museum. Professor Peck gave us a tour and showed us some very interesting view points on many peices of art. Below are my three favorite for the catergories of Craft, Concept, and Composition.

COMPOSITION: For the classical section of the Art Museum I chose this photo as my favorite photo for composition purpouses. The reason I chose this picture for the composition factor is because the way the artist painted this photo makes the eye go straight to the blue shower curtain that is randomly placed in the photo. One would think that this photo should be about the beautifully painted flowers in the background but one can't help but have their eyes go straight to the blue shower curtain and I believe that the artist did this as the main purpose of the photo.

Concept- I chose to select this photo from the classical museum because for some reason when I looked at it I immediatley felt sorry for the woman in the photo. To me, the photo portrays misery and hard work. The way the artist chose to make it look as though the sun is only rising and the woman is already covered in dirt as if she has been working for hours already. The artist portrays the field as being so large and with her standing in he middle of it with only one small tool portrays the hard work that the woman has been doing. The face on the woman is also captivating. She has a look that doesnt look as though shes in dispair but almost like she is looking at the work that she has done/ needs to be done.

CRAFT- I chose this painting from the classical museum for craft because the way the photo is painted is very captivating. It is an oil based painting using different shades of the color green, but all of the strokes are going in the same direction to form the trees, grass and bushes. The different strokes that all go in the same direction give charecter to the trees which is a very interesting way to paint.

Week 8

hour one

hour 2

hour 3 ( I dont know why it is smaller but it isnt like that on photoshop)
Craft-In order to create this picture, I took the photo in my previous post that I drew and portrayed it on photoshop. I created this entire photo by using the photoshop shape tools and color alone. The only part that was not used by shapes is the text.
Composition-I chose to do an Iphone because almost everyone has seen or has an iphone since it is the most popular electronic device out right now. I chose the back of the iphone to gradually turn whiter towards the top since that is where the words are and I wanted the words WXAV to stand out the most.

Week 7 - sketches

CRAFT- In order to create these sketches I used a plain sheet of white computer paper and made it into a square. I then used pencil to draw "escape from ordinary radio". I made sure to use dark clean strokes when drawing for definition.
Concept- The concept of my drawings is to portray "escape from ordinary radio". Each photo shows a way of escaping a normal boring radio and going toward a more exciting radio, which in this case is WXAV 88.3.
Composition- I tried to choose to draw something out of the ordinary for each in order to really grasp the viewers attention. I emphasized on each drawing the escape of the ordinary radio by clearly portraying that each photo was escaping somehow, either by listening to another radio, or going on a vacation.

Week 6- Photos (music/radio)

Craft- In order to create this picture I took my guitar and set it on a solid black sheet for contrast. I wanted to get the entire guitar in the frame so I stood above it. The lighting was difficult for this photo because if I turned the flash on it reflected off the guitar and if I turned the flash off, it wasnt bright enough. I placed the guitar under a light and turned the flash off in order to get the brightness I wanted.
Concept- This is a picture of my guitar on a solid black sheet.
Composition- I chose a black sheet for the background of the guitar because I wanted the guitar shape to stand out. I liked the way the black made the wood of the guitar look and I also like how the black really emphasises the curves that make up the guitar.
